A true Story

Once there was a girl who went with her parents to Indonesia. Her parents were going to live on a Island near Sumatra called Simeulue, because of her father’s work. The girl was really exited to go there, she had heard it was like paradise, and she found out it was. The minute she walked out of the plane and felt the warm breeze in her face she had fallen in love with this country.
But when she walked on the street all the people just looked at her with this strange look in there eyes; “why did they look? Was something wrong?”. She felt a bit uneasy with all the eyes fixed on her. She thought maybe it’s because I am white or because there are not many tourist. “When they get to know me it will be over”, but she was wrong.
The girl visited a lot of places and one by one they were beautiful. She loved the beaches and the palm trees, it reminded her of a postcard she ones got from a friend and thought it was just a card not the reality, but now she knew it was.
Although she loved it in Indonesia, the people kept on staring at her. When she passed they were touching there face as if something was wrong. One lady just kept saying something about her face, but she couldn’t understand a thing because she didn’t speak any Indonesian. She wanted to found out what they were trying to say so she started to learn Indonesian. It was hard to learn Indonesian, some words were the same as Dutch though, but a lot of them were really different. Now that she knew a few words she was going to solve the mystery.
On the market the banana lady was touching her face again and making weird signs, the girl ask what she was saying, but although she knew a few words, she still didn’t understand. All the people wanted to talk to hear and said things to her, but she didn’t know what, she didn’t understand. She felt a bit lost and confused, “what to do now?”
Than she knew it! She would just ask her parents, they could speak Indonesian, why hadn’t she thought about that before?
So her mother came along to the market, and again the banana lady was touching her face, laughing and making weird signs. The girls mother laughed loudly, yes she knew what the lady was saying.
The girl was desperate to hear what they all were saying to her and when her mother told her she laughed; now she knew why they were all staring at her! She smiled and walked away.
How could this people think that she was going to be a black woman, that her freckles were going to be one big black spot on her face?! And that they asked if she was born black or white?! Whahaha
Now she knew why they stared at her and now she didn’t mind any longer.

It is true they ask me why I have does spots on my face and if I turn black, haha, so funny. I think it’s because they have a disease here were they get white spots in there face, so maybe they think they I also got something like that but because I’m white I get black spots, who knows.

What a funny story! It's strange how people find skin colours so interesting in different countries. I like your writing style, Ammara, it's very simple and descriptive. I feel like I'm walking those streets with you!!! Now when are you coming to see ME? I hope soon!! Still want to come in December for Christmas? I hope so!!!

Haha die mensen daar zijn wel grappig zeg. Door die sproetjes heb je altijd wel zo'n super zonnige look, omdat je dan net wat meer getinter lijkt ;)

    Pas je goed op jezelf?
