Sunday 06-08-2006
So on Sunday we drove trough the mountains to the east coast, which was gorgeous. We arrived in Kuantan where there was a big market and festival in the city we staid in, so in the hotel they said that every hotel in the whole town was booked full, so we were lucky they still had a room (first they said they didn’t, so you never know if man is telling the trough).
We went out for dinner, but all the restaurants were already closed at 8 o’clock (we didn’t expect that!) So we eat on the street; the food in Malaysia is really good and not to hot for us to eat. In the shops on the streets you have many chooses and the same as in Indonesia, they have pots with food and you can just take what you want (you have to be careful though what you eat, because some food stands there for a few day’s and also not really hygienic).
Malaysia is really clean, compare to some countries in Asia and you can see that they are (a bit) richer (of course for us they are really poor, maybe they earn 100 euros a month, nothing we could live on).
To drive in Malaysia is okay, but in the bigger city’s it’s really like crazy: not only do they drive on the left site, they just put their car in front of yours without even looking (it is therefore a lot of noise and using the klaxon very often). For us even harder to drive, because we are use to drive on the right and the map we had, and the traffic signs were very bad.
